How to Play Guitar Songs – Three Basic Tips to Learning Guitar Scales
For many beginning guitarists, learning guitar scales can be extremely tiresome and frustrating. In reality, there is no way to learn and master every single possible guitar scale out there. Here are three tricks when learning your scales.
First, the most important thing that you can do is organize your lessons and practice on a week-to-week basis, so you don’t get overwhelmed. Here are some of the more important questions when making your guitar playing schedule.
1. How many hours per week will I put towards practicing the scales/
2. Which of scales are the most necessary for my guitar playing needs?
3. What songs do I plan on learning and what notes show up more frequently in those songs?
4. Which guitar scales will help me play those songs?
5. What don’t you fully understand about each one?
6. What “learn how to play guitar for beginners” program am I going to use in order to fully understand and play each of those specific guitar scales.
If you are not sure what program you should use, then do some research into some of those programs.
I personally did some research on some of the guitar programs out there, and the best and most reliable one that I could find was Jamorama.
Next, make sure that you don’t try to juggle too many guitar scales in too short of a time span. The best and most effective way of learning guitar scales is to learn and master one guitar scale at a time. This is probably most helpful tip that anyone can give you, just take it easy and eventually it will come to you. Just remember not to go overboard and try to learn guitar overnight, because it won’t work. When you learn each scale one by one, then you will know if you have mastered them or not.
Lastly, don’t stress yourself out about attempting to learn the guitar scales in every key.
As I said before just learn the guitar scales that you need for the kinds of songs that you’re going to play and in the keys you need to play those scales. If you are just starting out, then you’re going to want to learn one scale in one key at a time because learning a guitar scale in all twelve keys is insane, especially when you already don’t fully know what you’re doing. For the more experienced guitarists, then you could do one scale in a few keys if you think you can handle it.
There you go my three step method for taking some of the stress out of learning the guitar scales.
