When school gets out for Summer, there are no better plans for how to spend your time than what I have to talk to you about. Think about this… you get a guitar and some lessons, you practice all Summer. And, when you go back to school your answer to the question, “What did you do this Summer?” won’t be “Nothing.” This time you could answer, “I learned to play the guitar!”
Now, that will impress your friends, your teachers, your parents – it will even impress yourself! And I want to recommend a great course (which will save you from hiring a private teacher). One thing about this course that I feel makes it noteworthy is the fact that it is on DVDs – so much easier to use than downloading online lessons. There is a good review about this course - it’s called Learn and Master Guitar (just follow that link to read the review). This step-by-step learning course with videos will help you learn to play electric or acoustic guitar. If you like online video courses and want to learn the acoustic guitar, read about another course: Jamorama Acoustic Guitar. Another thing you can do is get some inspiration from watching other guitar players. A site I like for that is Guitar Lessons For Beginners.
Put those doubts out of your mind (or block out those thoughts that say you can’t actually learn to play the guitar this Summer). You really could learn that quickly – some people learn to play in just days. You might have to watch a little less TV, but if you took time to learn to play the guitar this summer, you’d have time to get good at playing.
Now, I’ve got a message for parents. Every Summer I know some parents who worry about keeping their kids out of trouble and keeping them busy with activities (instead of just TV or video games). I hope you will consider helping your child get a guitar course to encourage them to use their time off from school to learn something really awesome that will be of value to them for their entire life. One course could be used by the whole family – so parents and grandparents could learn to play guitar, too! Maybe you could come up with some incentive, such as have certain chores that must be done each day for your kids to earn the privilege or a reward such as a guitar or a guitar course. If you are a grandparent or a parent that could help pay for this course, there is a 60 day satisfaction guarantee (nothing to lose).
I just want to tell everyone how great it is that when I was young, my parents helped me get guitar lessons and learning to play is the best thing I’ve ever – I am so glad I am a guitar player! I am a good guitar player, but not a famous musician – it doesn’t matter because playing guitar is the most fun thing I’ve ever learned in my life. One last thing to think about – this Summer, become a guitar player. This Summer – learn to play guitar – and during the year you could form a band that would be playing for others by next Summer!
